Episode 1 of the Jewess Podcast with Rain Pryor

Welcome to the first blog post for the first episode of the Jewess podcast! I’m very excited. Are you?

On today’s episode we have Rain Pryor, performer, author, actress extraordinaire, and a super strong Jewess all around. We recorded this together over the summer, when Rain was in her hometown of Los Angeles to perform her show “Fried Chicken & Latkes.” Rain’s one-woman show is all about her life journey as comedian Richard Pryor’s daughter and a performer in her own right.

Rain and I discussed her Ashkenazi and African American background, her show, her love of deli sandwiches, her beliefs today, and discrimination she faced growing up. We talk about Jewfros, her father’s practices, and her daughter, who also has a cool name (Lotus!).

Also tune in to hear the amazing theme song, written by Zach Sherwin and performed by Myq Kaplan and Jenn Meyer. The show was a joint editing effort from my husband Danny Lobell, comedian Jason Webb and audio engineer Logan Heftel. Transitioning music also by Logan Heftel.

Make sure you subscribe to the podcast on Apple Podcasts here and please give us a five-star rating! Or listen here. Enjoy!
