Welcome to Jewess
Hi, and welcome to Jewess.
I’m your fearless Jewess in chief, Kylie Ora Lobell.
I decided to start this website because I wanted there to be a place exclusively for Jewish women online.
A place where Jewish women could talk about spirituality and food and culture, be entertained, learn, and highlight each other’s amazing accomplishments.
A website that is non-judgmental, welcoming of Jewish women of all different backgrounds, and real.
A little about me: I was not born Jewish.
I went through a five-year Orthodox conversion process and now live an observant lifestyle in Los Angeles with my husband, comedian Danny Lobell.
Me and Danny!
I do Shabbat, keep kosher, pray, celebrate the holidays… all that jazz.
I’m very proud of my Jewish identity.
Professionally, I’m a freelance writer, and I write personal essays and articles for Jewish publications like Aish, Chabad, The Jewish Journal of LA, OU, Jewish Action, The Forward, and Tablet Magazine.
I’ve also written for places like the Washington Post, the Los Angeles Times, Time Out New York and Los Angeles, Los Angeles Downtown News, Mayim Bialik’s Grok Nation, and Baltimore CityPaper.
I got published!
Right now, Jewess is a passion project. It’s just me. I have no backers or sponsors (yet), but I hope to build it up into a large community where all Jewish women can gather.
I hope you’ll join me on this journey.
I wanted to thank a few people who helped make Jewess possible: Cory Anotado of Pacdude Games and very talented comedian Micah Bleich designed the site and helped me get it up and running. Another very funny comedian, Barbara Gray, designed the Jewess logo. Also, thank you to all the writers whose work you currently see on the site. You Jewesses are amazing. <3
And lastly but not leastly, Danny Lobell, mah hubs, who gave me the idea to start Jewess in the first place. Thank you love!
